At the time of its foundation (around 1500), it was called Tsurugasu-ji. In the Battle of Kawanakajima in 1561, Noritake Takeda, Nobuyoshi Takeda (the younger brother of Shingen Takeda), started the temple as the main stable, but he died in a fierce battle at the age of 4, and was buried in this temple. Has been mourning the bodhi. After that, the first Matsushiro feudal lord, Nobuyuki Sanada (the older brother of Nobuyuki Sanada) was once a heavy minister of Takeda. It has evolved and conveys its history.
