Special Exhibition: Hope on Wings Galle, Dome, Lalique - Japonisme Birds in Glasswork -
- 2022.3 / 19 (Sat)-3/14 (Tue)
- Kitazawa Museum of Art
The Kitazawa Museum of Art, known for its collections of galleys, domes and laliques, will hold a special exhibition on the theme of flying birds flying high in the sky with the wish of ending the corona.
The heron, which represents the emperor, and the French symbol, the ondori, are traditional motifs found in Western crests, but during the Art Nouveau period at the end of the 19th century, when the galley and dome were in the limelight, there was a growing interest in Japan. Therefore, the birds found in Japanese ukiyo-e and crafts, such as familiar small birds such as swallows and sparrows, and waterside wild birds such as guns and herons, became popular as stylish motifs with an exotic atmosphere. The light of hope shines beyond the elegant wings reflected in the glass.
Please enjoy the masterpieces of the galley that the Kitazawa Museum is proud of, such as "Hitoyo Mushroom Lamp" and "French Rose".
