Katsushika Hokusai (1760 – 1849), an ukiyo-e artist from Edo who is known all over the world.Among the many masterpieces left by Hokusai, "Hokusai Manga" is known as a masterpiece along with "Thirty-six Views of Tomitake".When the first edition was published in 1814 (Culture 11) as an e-dehon for the disciples, it gained immense popularity among the common people and was published in multiple editions until 1878 (Meiji 11) after the death of Hokusai. it was done.
It vividly depicts all things of the gods, including people's lives, flora and fauna, natural phenomena, scenic spots in various places, gods and Buddha, and ghosts.Hokusai's humorous depiction, which captures the characteristics and momentary movements of people, with his stylish brush strokes and dynamic composition, gives Hokusai's amazing drawing power and eyesight, which he continued to paint until he was 90 years old. It speaks eloquently.
In this exhibition, we will introduce about 200 selected items from Mitsuru Uragami's "Hokusai Manga" collection, which boasts the highest quality and quantity in the world.Please enjoy the world of "Hokusai Manga", which attracts painters from all over the world and still fascinates us with the condensed essence of Hokusai art.
