The "Art Lab" on the 2nd floor of the Nagano Prefectural Art Museum's main building aims to become a "laboratory" where you can appreciate using senses other than vision. Yohei Nishimura will be introduced in the second exhibition in 2021.
Nishimura, who is also a ceramist, has presented works that highlight the differences in materials through the firing process, such as a series in which clay is applied to cans, metal, and paper and fired.Even if you can see it, you can't understand it without touching it.What kind of world is the world of the material itself that you can touch and feel?

Yohei Nishimura Biography
Artist / ceramist.Through the firing process, he presented works that emphasize the differences in materials.
In addition to creating his own works on the theme of senses such as sight, touch, and hearing, he is also involved in the modeling activities of people with disabilities and various people, and holds many workshops.
Born in Kyoto Prefecture in 1947
Graduated from Tokyo University of Education (now University of Tsukuba) in 1973
Worked as an art teacher at Chiba Blind School from 1973 to 98
2018-Professor Emeritus, Japan Women's University
Held many solo exhibitions in Japan and overseas
